“Brian Wong” Back on #1 in Google’s Index Database

This is an update on a previous post. On May 3rd, I made a post to express my shock and horror to realize that BrianWong.com was totally removed from the Google Search Index. Meaning my site was totally non-existent in Google’s eyes! Here’s a link to the post:

I listed the mistakes I made that got me de-listed and I also outlined a 5-Point plan to get my site back into Google’s good graces. So I’m pleased to report in this post that my site has been re-indexed by Google and I am back to ranking no.1 for the keywords - “Brian Wong”! Here’s the screen shot for my search for “Brian Wong”. Yay!

That’s means the actions I took paid dividends in just under 2 weeks. Please revisit the previous post above to see what I did to regain the top spot on Google for my name if you are keen to improve your search ranking. It worked.
Here’s a summary of what improves your search ranking:

  1. Frequency of keywords in your site - especially in anchor text. (I used “brian wong in the footer of each page as an anchor text)
  2. I admit that I have an advantage because the domain name itself contains the keywords “Brian Wong”
  3. In bound links makes a big difference too. I comment a lot on forums and other blogs with links back to my site.
  4. Submitting a site-map to Google helps too
  5. I use meta tags on each page and ensure my permalinks contain keywords too

Ok, that’s it for this week cos I just got back from a holiday in Phuket and am a little burnt from playing with my son in the pool for 2 hours everyday!!! :)
