“Brian Wong” Back on #1 in Google’s Index Database
Posted on 18. May, 2008 by Brian Wong in Internet Marketing
This is an update on a previous post. On May 3rd, I made a post to express my shock and horror to realize that BrianWong.com was totally removed from the Google Search Index. Meaning my site was totally non-existent in Google’s eyes! Here’s a link to the post:

I listed the mistakes I made that got me de-listed and I also outlined a 5-Point plan to get my site back into Google’s good graces. So I’m pleased to report in this post that my site has been re-indexed by Google and I am back to ranking no.1 for the keywords – “Brian Wong”! Here’s the screen shot for my search for “Brian Wong”. Yay!

That’s means the actions I took paid dividends in just under 2 weeks. Please revisit the previous post above to see what I did to regain the top spot on Google for my name if you are keen to improve your search ranking. It worked.
Here’s a summary of what improves your search ranking:
- Frequency of keywords in your site – especially in anchor text. (I used “brian wong in the footer of each page as an anchor text)
- I admit that I have an advantage because the domain name itself contains the keywords “Brian Wong”
- In bound links makes a big difference too. I comment a lot on forums and other blogs with links back to my site.
- Submitting a site-map to Google helps too
- I use meta tags on each page and ensure my permalinks contain keywords too
Ok, that’s it for this week cos I just got back from a holiday in Phuket and am a little burnt from playing with my son in the pool for 2 hours everyday!!! :)

I forgot to mention an additional tip is to create an XML sitemap and submit it to Google using the Google Webmaster tools here https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home?hl=en
While you are there, check out the other tools made available for free by Google to optimize your site.
Getting listed on Google is easy but to get the “site links” within the page is the challenging part. It just takes consistent action. :)

Thanks Brian – good advice. I have updated my footer now thanks to your advice. Also it could pay off to make a video about one-self. Then use Traffic Geysers free 30 day trial and spread the video out to all the most popular videosites, Pod cast directories, Social bookmarking sites, article sites and more. In the video-description you enter your name and the url for your site to get back-links. Since video is now more than 50% of all internet traffic and Google first finds videos over websites it would be worth checking out. My name, Camillo Loken, is quite rare and when I googled it I was already all over the place. I had not yet registered my name , hut thanks to you I did it now at Godaddy.com for as little as $7,67. I got a promotional code from Traffic Geyser that I think works for everyone. They talk about it in one of their free videos so anyone can use it. If you add the word Diggnation in the promo field the price goes down from $10,67 to 7,67. So getting a domain at Godaddy.com is really cheap. Al the best – Camillo :)
