About Brian Wong

Ok, you clicked on this link so I assume you do want to know more about me. Instead of the short cursory introductions on blogs, I’m going to give you the full yet concise version if that makes any sense.

I was born in Malaysia and went through my formative years in Sydney, Australia. I graduated from the University of New South Wales with a bachelor’s degree in Commerce. After spending 5 years in university, I landed my first job at investment bank as a trainee. My income then was a whopping RM1,700 (US$ 530) per month. So you see, I hold strongly to the belief that a formal education is not the best way to get rich. On this subject, I agree wholeheartedly with Robert Kiyosaki. He even has a book entitled “If you want to be Rich and Happy, don’t go to school?“.

My first break came when I started investing in stocks with my savings in 1996. For 5 years, my job involved analyzing companies for my boss. My job is to identify companies that are worth investing in and with a view to take them public. I quickly got a good feel of what makes good companies.

In 1999, I was hired by another investment bank to identify and invest in “dot com” companies. Remember this era? One of the start-up companies I recommended to my boss was called “Catcha.com”. It’s basically the South East Asia version of Yahoo. To cut a long story short, my boss rejected the valuation of the company and the founder made me an offer I could not refuse to join them as the Chief Operating Officer with equity interest. Our little start-up company raised over $5 million and grew to a 150-staff behemoth with offices in 5 countries. We took the company public within the next 6 months but alas, we became a casualty of the big dot com crash in 2000. All this was when I was 28 years old.

For the next 2 years, I managed to help steer our company through the credit crunch to get to a financially stable position. It was a hard time for me. After such rapid growth, we had to shrink and diversify our income sources. I’m pleased to say we did the best we could and the company still exists today.

In 2002 after spending 3 years at Catcha.com Ltd, I decided to take a sabbatical and started traveling to spa resorts in Australia and Europe to regain my sanity. The turning point in my life occurred in that year when I attended a course by Tony Robbins called “Date with Destiny”. If there was only one course I could recommend on this planet, I would tell you to go for this one. It will change you life.

This time for myself turned out to be the best decision of my life. Having a year off without the concerns and stress of a job, allowed me to really LEARN about life and what it means to be happy. By “unplugging” myself from the 14-hour work day grind – I got a real birds-eye-view of my life and what I want to do.

So in 2003, I founded my own wellness company – Pure Health. We specialize in maximizing health through detoxification and proper nutrition. This was a radical change from my corporate background. Because its something I believe it so passionately, Pure Health became an awesome success with over 2,000 clients undergoing our wellness programs within the first few years.

At this time, I attended a seminar by Robert Kiyosaki and he taught me the value of leverage and passive income. Can you believe that it took me 30 years of my life to realize what I now know as the no.1 secret to financial freedom?? From this epiphany, I started my quest to pursue and establish passive income sources in my life.

I joined a network marketing company called Nu Skin and within 3 years I became a Diamond Executive Leader with the company. Network marketing has been a powerful training course for me. In hindsight, I would gladly exchange my 5 years in university for the lessons I learned from building my network marketing organization. If you are not involved with network marketing – just do it. But without digressing, let me continue on.

In 2006, I attended Jay Abraham’s Billion Dollar Marketing Weekend course. It was a phenomenal experience and my business income quickly doubled within the first 3 months of implementing his ideas. More importantly, I attended he World Internet Summit in Malaysia which totally blew me away. Although I had been involved in the Internet back in 1999, the industry has radically advanced in just a few short years – and it continues to evolve offering unbelievable opportunities for anyone who recognizes its potential.

So, while managing my wellness business, my network marketing organization, my property and stock investments, I decided to venture into Internet Marketing in 2006. I purchased nearly every course, ebook, software and seminar program I could get my hands on. My learning curve was very steep as I had no choice, I had to catch up to the wave that only really began in 2002 after the dust from the dot com crash had settled.

In 2007, I met two men who would change my world yet again. Bob Proctor and Gerry Robert from Life Success Productions. I had come to know of their plans to launch a phenomenal home-study course based on the hit-movie “the Secret”. I traveled half way around the world to meet with them and I became an affiliate manager for Bob and Gerry. We launched the SGR Program in 2007. Using the Internet Marketing strategies that I devised, my team and I generated over $2 million in sales within the first month. This program continues to generate a powerful residual income stream for me each month.

So to recap, after the last 10 years of my working career, I generated 99.9% of my wealth in the last 2 years by pursuing highly leveraged residual based businesses and investments. Today, the income I get from my property investments, stocks investments, my network marketing organization and my business assets (all passive sources) far exceed the amounts I could ever spend in any given month.

Ok so why the long story. I’m not here to brag and hopefully not bore you. There are a few key messages for you here:

  1. Attend seminars and buy knowledge. The best information to make you rich is not found in the formal institutions but rather from those who have already accomplished what you desire. And, it’s worth paying for.
  2. Make it your main goal to start your own business even if you do not have a lot of capital to begin with. There are abundant opportunities online and through leveraged businesses like network marketing that allow you to get started with little investment. Each step will help you learn and grow.
  3. Pursue as many high-leverage passive income sources as possible. Bob Proctor calls them “MSIs” or Multiple Sources of Income. Remember, this is the no. 1 ‘secret’ to financial freedom I can tell you.

Make sure above all, that you really truly enjoy the journey. In between all of the above, I found my soul mate and started a family. My greatest joy in life is to spend time with my wife and son.

Now the purpose of this blog is for me to interact and share my knowledge and experience with like-minded individuals especially if you are looking for a breakthrough that leads to your financial freedom. If you are still reading this, chance are, it’s you. So if you like what you see so far, remember to subscribe to my blog, leave a comment and come back often. I would love to here from you.

Peace and blessings,

Brian Wong
